Brilliant Beginnings
We give kids the foundation they need for success in school and in life.
Science
|
Oh, the wonder of the world around us! We don’t study scientific concepts. We bring them to life. Do seashells have secrets? If you spend the time to notice an apple, will you see its symmetry? What does your heart really look and sound like? We use the abundant nature around us to fuel inquiry as we grow a garden, hatch praying mantises, and watch tiny frogs hop across our playground. Children engage all their senses in hands-on lessons designed to nurture the future scientist.

Technology
|
The word technology conjures up images of augmented reality, virtual moon rover off-roading, harnessed electrical currents, and using kid friendly scientific devices to see a microscopic view of a cicada’s wing. We do all those things AND we explore the non-plugged in variety of technology. We take on a few of those hard learned lessons in human history that brought about early technology and changed the way we interact with the world around us. For example: water displacement (sink and float in boats); refraction of light with prisms; and simple machinery.

Reading and Writing
|
We believe that reading is a gateway to knowledge. We love bringing a book to life and nurturing a love for literature. Children engage with a print rich environment and a curated list of children’s books to mirror our monthly themes.
3 year olds dive into world of alphabet sounds and shapes with all their senses. We develop their ability to identify and segment words and sounds through song, movement, and rhyme. We write in salt, search through beans, mash clay, and smooth out shaving cream. We construct, craft, cook and finger paint. We work on finger strength and fine motor skills. Your child knows they’re working on reading and writing, but there are no pencils in sight. Our 4 year olds move along a similar path -- but as developmentally appropriate -- we finally bring those skills together with pencil and paper writing. Children learn decoding skills and sight words. They enter kindergarten with the skills and confidence they need to do well in school. |
Engineering
|
Play can be serious business. In its simplest terms, engineering is about designing and building things to solve problems. We specifically provide toys, tools, and scenarios that help children explore the world of engineering. Learners use their ideas and imaginations to solve problems and find solutions.

Art
|
We feature all the hands-on favorites of childhood with fingerpaint, easel paint, and water colors. We paint with a variety of mediums - all things you would have loved to have painted with or on as a child - cookie cutters, apples, cars, marbles, wood slices...and so much more. In addition, we have added an Art Masters element during specially themed Fridays. Watch you child come home with their version of Monet, Matisse, O'Keeffe, Picasso, Magritte, Khalo, Rivera, Van Gogh or Mondrian.

Math
|
Your child will build a strong mathematical foundation at Little Hart’s. We delve into math’s mysteries with a learning-on-your-feet aesthetic. We count, sort, pattern, construct, match, and draw numbers to develop one-to-one correspondence and number sense. We focus on the skills and knowledge needed for the building blocks of early arithmetic, algebra and geometry. We encourage your child to use math concepts and engage in creative and logical problem solving – skills that will serve your child for life.
